NOT JUST ANOTHER WORKSHOP
WHAT IS 'YOUTHLAB'
YouthLAB is about fun, creativity, and empowerment.
It’s a chance for young people to shape the future of their neighbourhoods — exploring ideas and helping us to plan how their area grows and evolves.
Working with our delivery partners, North Lincolnshire Council, Community Vision and North Lincolnshire Youth Activity Partnership, this is a chance for young people to bring their ideas to life and have a real say in how £20 million could be spent locally as part of the Plan for Neighbourhoods.
An initiative that we’re making sure empowers young voices to help create vibrant, inclusive spaces that reflect their hopes and ambitions.
GENUINE COMMUNITY IMPACT
THE AIM?
To amplify the voices that keep our community human, alive and evolving - ensuring that local people directly guide how this funding is invested.
How?
Initially, through YouthLAB and a series of NeighbourhoodLAB events plus an online survey, which will bring your views into focus and ultimately shape where and how the £20 million is spent.’
A NEW PROJECT
A Partnership
For Change
YouthLAB is being delivered in partnership with North Lincolnshire Council, Community Vision and North Lincolnshire Youth Activity Partnership, alongside the Plan for Neighbourhoods, which is supported by a dedicated Neighbourhood Board, while Scunthorpe Tomorrow drives community engagement.
This is a project designed to progress past initiatives, including Scunthorpe Tomorrow’s PlaceLAB 1, 2, and 3 and the Community Cohesion Project. As a team, we have seen firsthand what's possible when people from different backgrounds and beliefs come together with one goal in mind - to make a real difference in their town.
This project, the YouthLAB and NeighbourhoodLABs, are the next steps in that journey to help us bring that vision to life.
YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD
10 YEARS
1 SCUNTHORPE
ABOUT YOU
HAVE YOUR SAY
As well as the various engagement events taking place across Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire Council is also running a short survey giving you a further opportunity to share your views. You can find the survey, which should only take around 10 minutes to complete, here. If you need any support completing the survey or a paper copy, please get in touch.
CHANGE IS COMING
A Time for Action.
A Force for Positive Change
Amazing community action takes place every day across Scunthorpe. The challenge lies in making this incredibly valuable activity visible and connected. However, this activity often happens in pockets, with no guiding hand to mobilise, maintain and magnify these efforts.
Plan for Neighbourhoods aims to represent all of the voices that contribute to our community and channel those conversations into a shared vision, spearheading the action that is so crucial to ensuring Scunthorpe is where we all want it to be in the next decade.
Why is this needed? For our town, and those living, working and studying within it, attracting new investment is the key to opening the doors to opportunity and retaining homegrown talent as well as welcoming it back home.
WE'RE ALL EARS
What we want to know from you
With a regeneration plan in place, activity can be measured, and we can be accountable for the progress made. For this project, our approach starts with a conversation. We’re not just asking "what does good look like?" No. We want to know:
- What do you love about your town?
- What do you hope for your children and grandchildren?
- What opportunities do you want to see for your community?
We’ll be working with you, as well as community leaders and representatives, to empower the conversations that need to happen right in the heart of your neighbourhood.
SHAPE YOUR VISION
HAVE YOUR SAY at local events
Shaping this vision starts by listening to you. As we continue along our path to build connections, drive action and change the narrative, we’re planning a series of NeighbourhoodLABs. These will be taking place across Scunthorpe throughout September and October to ensure we hear from a diverse range of voices from diverse neighbourhoods. We are also planning an additional youth event, as well as hosting PlaceLAB 4:
- NeighbourhoodLABs:
These events will take place in different neighbourhoods across Scunthorpe twice a week. - YouthLAB:
We’re planning a special event for young people! Taking place at Oasis Community Space, from 12.30pm-5pm on October 11th, book your place today. - PLACELAB4:
Sign up now!
This confirmed event will be on October 10th 8.30am-1pm at Heslam Park, where we'll share the emerging themes and ideas we've gathered from the initial consultation.
The power when people come together to make something meaningful happen is undeniable. This is your chance to be part of that legacy.

JOIN SCUNTHORPE TOMORROW, TODAY
JOIN THE Community crusade
Our previous PlaceLABs and Community Cohesion Project, not to mention Scunthorpe Tomorrow’s very existence, stand as a timely and powerful reminder of what’s possible when people come together – across backgrounds, across beliefs, and across the town – to make something meaningful happen. And continue to happen.
For us, everything that has been achieved to date has laid the foundation for the next inevitable step.
