The first ever PLACELAB at the Oasis Community Space in Crosby was held to highlight skills within the area and grow opportunities by bringing together businesses, local organisations and individuals from the Scunthorpe area.

HELPING TO BUILD A better FUTURE FOR SCUNTHORPE

Thank you so much to the more than 70 of you who joined us at our first Scunthorpe Place Lab on Friday the 18th of October 2024.

We loved welcoming you to the Oasis Community Space and left feeling inspired and energised by the pride in our town and commitment to action to make it even better.

  • We started by summarising what Scunthorpe means to all of us in one word.

  • Our panel of Scunthorpe Tomorrow members discussed their connections to Scunthorpe and different perspectives on the opportunities for our area – you can watch the full conversation in the video above and look out for some “best bits” clips on LinkedIn.

  • We then had a series of breakout discussions that explored how we build connections, take action and change the narrative locally – we’ll share more of the outputs of these discussions over the coming weeks.

  • Finally, we each made our individual pledge for action. It’s been amazing to see some of these, ranging from “telling a friend about Scunthorpe Tomorrow”, through to offers to host events and get involved in our working group that powers Scunthorpe Tomorrow and organises events like this one (details on how to get involved below!).
